About Hemp Bedding

Hemp bedding is a natural, sustainable, highly absorbent alternative to other animal bedding options. It is made from the soft core of the hemp plant's stalk (often called the "hurd"). This produces a very soft bedding that absorbs up to 4x its weight, making it longer lasting, and efficient at trapping odors like ammonia.

    HORSES

    Horses

For the initial setup of a 12x12 stall using a deep litter method, 4 - 8 bags of hemp bedding are recommended for the base.

    1. Pick droppings daily
    2. Add approximately 1 bag of new hemp bedding weekly to maintain dry top layer
    3. Remove urine soaked shavings once red and compacted at base

    CHICKEN COOPS

    Chicken Coops

For the initial setup of a 10x10 chicken coop using a deep litter method, 3 - 4 bags of hemp bedding is recommended for the base.

    Caged Animals

    CAGED ANIMALS

Start with a 1 inch base and adjust to your liking. Add more if the animal likes to burrow. Clean as needed.

    DISPOSAL

    Disposal

One major benefit of hemp bedding is that it is biodegradable and makes quality compost that can be utilized in the garden or spread into pasture. It composts twice as fast as traditional shavings which can dramatically reduce the cost of manure removal.
